Maybe one day…

I’m still dreaming about what it would take to actually do something like this. This is a 50 mile Ultra Marathon called the Twin Peaks Ultra. It’s in the local mountains of Orange County along trails that I have mountain biked for years.

This race is February 2, 2008. I don’t think I could be ready in time. We’ll see.

The dangers of wearing Crocs

Bmoe sent over this article from Yahoo News on the dangers of wearing Crocs. Click here to read it. It looks like it goes beyond the danger of bad fashion. It’s not like Dave cares about fashion though. Long live Crocs!
My boy!

Critters on the trail last night

After work I ran the Modjeska Grade (AKA the Luge) for an hour. On the trail I saw a few critters and snapped a picture of this guy below. On the run I was having a few ankle and knee pops. I think my new shoes are closer than I was expecting! Yessssssss!!

Dopers in Sports

Always a fun topic.

The USADA (U.S. Anti-Doping Agency) wants to know what you think… of them and thoughts on doping in sports.

So, if you are a fan of Olympic sports, cycling, etc. and hate seeing things such as athletes with gargantuan Neanderthal looking muscles and foreheads, taking records away from those who actually work hard for their achievements then look at the following page and fill in the short response area with comments, ideas or suggestions.

http://www.usantidoping.org/contact/feedback.aspx

For questions related to prohibited substances, please call the USADA Drug Reference Line at 1-800-233-0393 (within the U.S.), or 1-719-785-2020 (outside the United States), or e-mail your inquiry.
Contact USADA’s Play Clean Line (1-877-752-9253 or e-mail) when you believe the integrity of your sport is compromised by doping. Tip providers can remain anonymous.

And another fun site to always visit is Doperssuck.com

I’m back on track, part 2

On Friday of last week I had a post about being back on track with my training, diet, etc. What I left out is that I got some results back from a physical I had to take to get a new life insurance policy. My cholesterol is at 240 and that scared Julie and I. On Thursday I am going to go and get a new blood test from my doctor so I can get a referral to a heart doctor. We would like to have these results verified and then get council on what to do.

To help jump start this process over the weekend I made a decesion to not proactively eat red meat if I don’t have to. Of course there will be instances were that is what is being served so I will eat it. But if I have a choice, I will go with chicken, fish or turkey…a novel choice would be a salad but I oubt it.

This decesion feels like a step in the right direction for my heart.
