It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything personal about myself. It’s because I’m tried. Life has consisted of family, work, church and training for the last few weeks. I have the kids solo this weekend so this post will be short.
Last Saturday I completed the Leadville Trail Marathon. It’s a 26.2 mile race starting at around 10,000 ft going up to 13,200 ft. The day had over 6,000 ft of total climbing and took me 5 hours and 50 minutes. It was hard, the elevation was brutal but overall it was a fantastic experience. I learned a ton about pacing, walking, nutrition, hydration, elevation, heart rate, etc. The race was taxing on the body but my legs felt great. I placed 114 out of 325.
You can see my run stats below:
Because of how good I felt in Leadville, next up (I signed up last weekend) is the 4th Annual Steamboat 50 Ultra Marathon. This will be by far, hands down, the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Goal time will be 13 hours.
I need to do a complete post on my training but I have to give 100% credit to my solid race to Emergent Fitness. Cross training with CrossFit is the reason why I felt so good. More explanation to come…
A special thank you to the following for their ongoing support:
My family (Especially my family)

Mark Dowds for his training and race day wisdom
Gotta run, Landon is going crazy in the back yard with his squirt gun.
