2010 US Cup – Specialized Invitational Finals

Specialized Invitational Finals

The 2nd annual Specialized Invitational Finals presented by H2O Overdrive will take place this
weekend on Sunday September 12th at Bonelli Park, in San Dimas, California.

For this race, all competitors including amateurs will get to race the exact same cross country
course used earlier in March for the H2O Overdrive Triple Crown Pro cross country race.

Also up for grabs on the weekend are two individual titles. The first being the Specialized
Invitational title and the other being the One Day California State Cross Country
championships.

This allows riders to compete for two highly sought after crowns all on the same weekend.

The Specialized Invitational has invited all riders who have raced in a US Cup sanctioned event
in 2010, which includes the H2O Overdrive Triple Crown, the Kenda Cup West Series or a
Kenda Cup Qualifier event. The One Day California State Championships are open to all riders
as well, with no prior qualification necessary.

“Our goal at the US Cup is to simplify the mountain bike race calendar, so racers get more value in
these tough economic times,” comments US Cup marketing director Ty Kady. “Doubling up with
Team Big Bear to present their One Day California State Cross Country champions seems to make
sense to us, and we hope the racers appreciate the merger too.”

All Cat 1 racers will be competing for a custom Specialized jersey courtesy of Primal Wear, while
the Cat 2 and Cat 3 racers will receive a custom certificate suitable for framing. Additionally, a
custom California State jersey will be award to all category champions on the weekend.

In addition, US Cup series sponsors have kicked in a load of swag for all competitors, which will
be divvied up and raffled off during the weekend.

My MotorTabs suprise package

Earlier this week I received a surprise gift package from Motor Tabs.

I use around 7 Motor Tabs tablets a week thru various training efforts, mainly at EmerFitness for CrossFit and long trail runs. I’m discovered that the Lime flavor does my body right. With t-minus 2 weeks until the Steamboat 50, it’s all preparation. Based on passed experience, these lime Tabs will help make or break my day. Long trail runs are all about food and hydration.

Thanks Sellers!

Party on Andy. Party on Stuart.

The Saxo Bank team has prevented Andy Schleck and Stuart O’Grady from starting the 10th stage of the Vuelta a España on Tuesday, citing an unspecified “rules violation,” according to Danish news reports.

The sporten.dk website and TV 2 Sport reported that team boss Bjarne Riis took the action Tuesday morning in advance of the day’s stage.

The news reports mentioned violations of team rules, but were not clear as to which rules were allegedly broken. Speaking with reporters at the start in Tarragona, Riis wouldn’t elaborate, but said the violations did not involve doping allegations. Later reports suggest that the two may have violated a team ban on alcohol.

Luxembourg’s Schleck was a runner-up at the 2009 and 2010 Tour de France and the 2007 Giro d’Italia. O’Grady has three Tour de France stage wins, won Paris-Roubaix in in 2007 and Olympic Madison gold in 2004. Both are expected to leave the team at season’s end to join a new squad organized and sponsored by Luxembourg-based businesses.

GPS stats from today’s trail run on Coyote Ridge

Knocked out a 6:30 am trail run with Jobe on the Coyote Ride to Indian Summer loop this morning. Lot’s of deer with a beautiful sunrise. My legs felt good, better than they’ve felt in a long time. We kept a slow steady pace and ran 99% of the climbs. Jobe was a champ, this was his longest run ever. Other than tweaking his right ankle (again) he enjoyed himself. The Steamboat 50 taper has officially begun. Easy runs, rides and Emergent Fitness sessions for the next 10 days.

Time for a nap!

Have you signed up for the USGP of Cyclocross in Fort Collins (The New Belgium Cup)

In case you’ve missed it, registration for the USGP of Cyclocross in Fort Collins (The New Belgium Cup) is open.

The New Belgium Cup
November 13th and 14th, 2010

The third weekend of the USGP of Cyclocross races into new territory in 2010 – heading to Fort Collins, CO for the USGP’s first visit to CO since 2006. Fort Collins is home to a number of cyclocross standouts – including Georgia Gould, Meredith Miller and up and coming junior Skyler Trujillo – so the competition for hometown domination is sure to be intense!

The course will feature a deceptively tough course – native grasses that require power, terrain and elevation changes, dirt and pavement – all given the Fina treatment for something extra special.

I’m signed up for both mornings, Category 4. We race at 8:00 am both days, brrrrr!
